Commonly Asked Questions
What should I wear?
Your clothing choices should reflect your style and personality. You need to feel comfortable in what you choose to wear. If you're a senior girl I typically recommend one of your outfits includes a dress or a skirt and if you're a senior boy I typically recommend a pair of jeans for one of your outfit choices.
Should parents come along?
It’s common for a family member to attend the photo session with their senior, but it’s not a requirement. We do ask for advanced notice if you plan to come alone so we can bring an assistant. It’s our policy that, as a female photographer, I’m never alone with someone of the opposite sex. (I’ll typically ask my husband to join us as my assistant in these cases.)
Along those same lines, we do request that your senior doesn’t bring friends and that parents don’t bring siblings. These added distractions not only prohibit us from capturing the most images, but can also sacrifice the quality of those images. Having friends present often causes clients to either “perform” or hold back because they’re embarrassed or nervous. Our goal is to make the session a time to celebrate the senior, and we’ll have the most success when we don’t have additional onlookers!
I will add however that we are happy to discuss your options for add-on best friend photos during your session.
Do you book sessions on the weekends?
I do book sessions on the weekends but my weekends typically fill up pretty quickly so I recommend getting on the books a couple of months in advance. Otherwise weekday evenings are a great choice as well (especially in summer and fall)!
Do you travel?
I’m thrilled to offer travel for senior sessions, and I absolutely love visiting your farm, hometown, or any meaningful location! Not in Kearney? No worries—I can come to you! There is a mileage fee for locations outside my standard range, but I’m passionate about capturing the essence of your unique surroundings. Let’s make memories together in a setting that truly represents you!
